Reaction to the “Westbrook effect”

Do you have any idea how misleading that is? First of all, Harden was traded away from Kevin Durant as well. Dion, Ibaka, Reggie Jackson went away from KD as well, let’s not ignore that. Also, OBVIOUSLY 90% of them will have better stats on their new team since their usage rate, minutes played, and role changed. Let’s not forget Durant won MVP with Russ, was a top 2 player in the world and won  SCORING TITLES in OKC, so for anyone to think Westbrook held Durant back is misinformed or just a plain hater.  Oladipo went from a 2nd option to a future legend into a 1st option so his Ppg average should increase as well as his field goal attempts.

If we want to use the logic of this so called “effect” then the Chris Paul effect is a thing then. Eric Bledsoe nearly doubled his Ppg average his first season away from the Clippers, also JJ Redick is having a career year offensively on the first year away from Clippers (and Chris Paul). Darren Collison went from 11.1 Ppg to 16.4 Ppg once he left the Clippers. Reggie Evans as a Clipper averaged about 2 Ppg and 5 Rebs a game, on his first year away from the Clippers he averaged 4.5 Ppg and 11 Rebs per game. See how easy it is to make the “Point god” look bad when showing cherry picked info? Heck we can even point out Harrison Barnes went from 11.7 Ppg to 19.2 Ppg in his first season leaving Stephen Curry. Does that mean Curry makes role players like Barnes worse? No.

I’m not saying Westbrook can turn role players to elite players but to blame Russ for those players like Reggie Jackson not putting up the same stats they did elsewhere is what Stephen A Smith would as blasphemous.

Is J Rich (Josh Richardson) NBA 1st Defensive Team?

Is J Rich (Josh Richardson) NBA 1st Defensive Team?

Written by Kevin Bertalotto.  April 26, 2018.

In case you’ve been sleeping on Miami as has everyone and is unaware of who Josh Richardson is, he’s the Heat’s starting shooting guard who played 81 games and believe me when I tell you it is a lot closer than majority thinks.

Guarding their man:

Victor Oladipo on defense held his man to 45.1% shooting, 373/834. Josh Richardson on defense held his man to 41.6% shooting, 370/890 total.

imagesGeneral defensive stats

J Rich allowed 7.6 fast break ppg and 8.1 2nd chance ppg. Mr. Oladipo allowed 8.5 fast break ppg and 9.3 2nd chance ppg. Although Dipo was a better Iso defender, J.rich has shut down more notable players.

Big names Dipo locked up (min. 10 fga)

  1. Klay 3/11 27%
  2. Booker 4/15 27%
  3. CJ 6/18 33%
  4. Lou Will 4/12 33%

Big names J Rich locked up (min 10 fga)

  1. Demar 9/24 37%
  2. Dipo 7/22 32%
  3. Wiggins 5/20 25%
  4. Pg13 3/15 20%
  5. Wall 4/12 33%
  6. Lou Will 4/12 33%
  7. Kemba 6/15 40%
  8. Klay 6/15 40%

As you can see Richardson has put the clamps on more notable players which certainly means something.  As said before it is close but Josh has a slight advantage with his height and uses that to his full advantage, Oladipo most certainly can make a legit case, but I gotta ride with J Rich on this one.

Utah Jazz: Cinderella Story in the Making??

Utah Jazz: Cinderella Story in the Making??

By Francis S Estepan. March 7, 2018

The Utah Jazz will be battling the Indiana Pacers to keep their playoffs hope alive.  The Jazz are 1 game out of the playoff picture with a record 34-30.  With 18 games left to the season and sitting out looking in no game is an easy one.  Both teams have a lot on the line coming up to this game.  After finally dropping one after going on an 11 game winning streak, the Jazz look to pick up and get on another winning streak, already winners of 3.

The Pacers are in a Cinderella story of their own currently holding the 4th spot in the East only half a game behind the Cleveland Cavaliers.  Indy is also on a 3 game winning streak.  Oladipo and Company have surprised the NBA and have proven that they can compete with anybody in their conference and outside off it.  The Pacers have a great game flow and they are very unselfish.  Oladipo can be considered their scoring leader but they have 6 other guys that average scoring in double digits.

If the Pacers lose this game they will drop to 37-28 and puts them in that 3 way mix with the Wizards and the 76ers.

Pacers’ Biggest Question: Last time they played Rudy Gobert nor Myles turner were there.  How would that change the game today?

Just like the Pacers the Jazz are also very well balance and there is not a one man show.  The Jazz also have 6 guys that average scoring double digits.  Lead by Rookie of the Year Nominee Donovan Mitchell.  One of the biggest stumbles that the Jazz have face this season have been injuries to their premier Frenchman Rudy Gobert, but with every game he is making strides.

A win here for the Jazz will put them on the toes of the Clippers and the Denver Nuggets.  Both Clippers and Nuggets play the Cavaliers this week who are looking to hold their number 3 seed ahead of the Pacers.

Jazz’ Biggest Question: The Jazz held their opponents to under 100 points in 4 of the last 5 games.  In those games they are 4-1.  Indy averages 106, can the Jazz stand their defense to an offense that shot over 50% against them last game?

Predictions/ Key Matchups

Utah Jazz win: Is a big revenge week for the Houston Rockets.  This is also a revenge game for the Jazz playing a team only twice a year makes the 2nd game that much exciting.  There is nothing more rewarding that beating a team in their home that once beat you at your home.  Neither Tuner nor Gobert played last game. That will the matchup to watch.

Rudy Gobert: 13 Ppg, 104 Rpg, 1.4 Apg, 2.3 Blpg (89 blocks)

Myles Turner: 13.2 Ppg, 6.9 Rpg, 1.5 Apg, 2 Blpg (94 blocks)
