Jazz @ Nuggets!! Game 1 of 4!!

Jazz @ Nuggets!! Round 1!!

The Jazz (32-15) will facing the Nuggets (32-15) for game one of a 4 game series.  The teams are tied in the 3rd and 4th seed, with Nugget having the advantage and both are behind one game on the Clippers.  The Jazz are coming off consecutive losses to Western conference team while the Nuggets are coming off a loss to the Grizzlies.  This game should be full of nonsense.

Donovan Mitchell is coming off consecutive 30+ games and the Jazz are counting on another here.  Unfortunately, Mitchell performances have both been losses, the Jazz need to bounce back this game.  A positive for the Jazz has been the returned of Mike Conley and maybe adjusting back to him have put the Jazz a step behind but they are working it out.  Conley needs to stay healthy and help out Mitchell in all the areas possible.

The Nuggets will be without Jamal Murray, Paul Millsap and Mason Plumlee.  Regardless of the players out the Nuggets are deep in their lineup and should not be taking lightly.  Nikola Jokic is still the heart and soul of the team and there is no telling when he’ll break out for a perfect night.  Also, Michael Porter Jr should be on the watch because he is the guy to be set to take over for the Nuggets.  In the month of January, Porter is averaging 12.2 pts per game in 20.8 mins, his role is increasing and he stepping up to the plate.

Gobert Vs Jokic – should be the matchup of the night.  The Jazz will need to rotate good enough to keep Gobert closer to the rim and away from having to step out to Jokic too many times.

Pick: Jazz. Attack with Mitchell and out the pressures on the Nuggets guard.

NSS Jazz @ Nets!! Jazz going for 10!!

NSS Jazz @ Nets!! Jazz going for 10!!

The Jazz will be fighting for their 10th straight win against a Nets team that got Kyrie back and hoping to make up for some loss ground. The Jazz are 12-9 on the road and already beat the Nets once this season in a game that Donovan Mitchell did outscored Irving. It got pretty bad for the Nets who went through a 7 game losing streak but did enough to stay on a playoff seed. Jazz and Nets only meet twice in the season, this should be an exciting game.

Mitchell missed the last game vs the Wizards, but as off right now is listed as probable vs the Nets. A healthy Mitchell will be needed for the Jazz who will need to matchup Irving’s scoring and playmaking. Mitchell leads the team in scoring with 24.2 Ppg, in his absence Jordan Clarkson has stepped up. Speaking of Clarkson, he has plenty of momentum heading into this game coming off back-to-back 20 point games. But most importantly serving as a big spark in the Jazz winning streak.

Clarkson is averaging 15.2 Ppg on 46.1 FG% and 35.2% on 3 point shooting. The Jazz have found their groove as they are approaching their halfway point of the season. Joe Ingles have stepped up as the number 1 distributor in the absence of Mike Conley. Another the player for the Jazz that is doing good things but still under the radar is Georges Niang, in the last 10 games he is averaging 8.1 pts in 15.8 minutes. The Key to a Jazz win will be depended on Gobert dominating the boards.

Key Matchup – Rudy Gobert Vs Jarrett Allen & DeAndre Jordan: Rebound Battle

– Gobert – 14.4 Rebounds per game – 2nd in NBA

– Allen – 9.9 Rebounds per game – 14th in NBA

– Jordan – 9.8 Rebounds per game – 17th in NBA

The Nets will be switching back and forth between Allen and Jordan matching up with Gobert on the glass. If the Nets get an offensive rebound the ball will go back to Irving and he’ll make the Jazz paid for it. Irving 1st game back was a win against the Hawks where he look extremely comfortable scoring 21 points in 20 minutes.

The Jazz are tired with the Nuggets for in the West and only .5 game ahead of the Rockets. The game vs the Nets is their 2nd game of 3 game road trip before heading back to Utah.

Pick: Jazz. Mitchell returns should spark the Jazz.

Irving came back and was almost perfect against the Hawks, but being that it was the Hawks. Nets are 11-8 at home.

NSS Jazz & Lakers Got Winning Streaks!!

Jazz & Lakers Got Winning Streaks!!

Utah Jazz & Los Angele Lakers are on some pretty impressive winning streaks.  The Lakers are at the top of the West with a record of 32-7 and have won 8 straight games.  The Jazz have climbed up and now have the 3rd (or tie for 2nd) in the West and have won 9 straight.

Jazz Nonsense

The real surprise here is the Jazz 9 game winning streak, undefeated since the Jordan Clarkson signing.  The Jazz deserve a lot more credit than they are getting in 2020.  The streak kicked off with a win against the Blazers and then the Clippers, who had both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George active.  The Jazz climbed in the standings push the Rockets down and the Clippers in to the 5th seed.

Personally, I follow the Jazz religiously, hence “Jazz Nonsense”, and I also I will be attending some Jazz games.  I am enjoying seeing the Jazz do this good and be completely jellying.  The Jazz have giving themselves some cushion by beating on teams under 500 and everybody should be loving it.  If the Jazz keep going and get in the playoffs with home court advantage for the 1st round, I mean, just imagine SLC going wild on some nonsense.

(Note: still no credit will be giving to Bojan Bogdanovic, the hate strong and he still “meh” of a player)

The shot at 10 straight wins for the Jazz will be a contest against Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday January 14.  That won’t be an easy matchup being on the road and fighting a Nets team looking to turn around their recent slump. Irving will be playing on his 2nd game, against the Hawks he played 20 minute scoring 21 points on 10-11 including 1-1 from the 3pt Line.

Lakers Nonsense

The Lakers are 5 games ahead in the West and are getting LeBron for a chance at a 9th straight win.  The Lakers have already been on a 10 game winning streak before losing to the Mavericks, who have been twice victims in this current streak.  The Lakers are more than rolling, they have scored at least 106 points in each game even then one without Anthony Davis, LeBron James and Danny Green.

Kyle Kuzma pay no attention to the reports that he plays worse when he is rumors of trade are going on.  Kuzma score a season high against Dallas, starting in place of Anthony Davis.  The very next game vs the Oklahoma City Thunder led with 36 points.  Kuzma is averaging 13.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and .8 assist and proving that he can be depended it on as the 3rd option but also in a starting role.  While for Kuzma, it really has just been a small sample it really shows what he can do.

The Lakers will look to keep their streak going at home (15-4 record) hosting the Cavaliers (9th) and the Magic (10th).  This next games couldn’t have come at a better time, Lakers will be playing at home with a day’s rest in between before starting a 5 game road trip starting with the Rockets.  The Lakers will be using this time and games to keep recovering Davis, who is listed as questionable.

Which Streak is more impressive?  How far can each team get?

NSS Player Watch: Jordan Clarkson

NSS Player Watch: Jordan Clarkson

Jordan Clarkson became a Jazz on December 23rd joining his 3rd team in his career. Clarkson played his 1st game in Jazz uniform against the Blazers on December 26th, he had 9 points in 21 minutes. Clarkson immediately made his impact with the Jazz with his scoring and playmaking from the bench. Clarkson is contributing and seem to have fit pretty well in his role, the Jazz just matched their longest winning streak of the season and are going to try extend it to 6 wins against the Pelicans.

The Jazz went from having one of the worse bench in the NBA to getting 19 and 20 points from one guy in the bench. The 19 point performance, from Clarkson against the Clippers is the one that stands out. The Jazz beat the Clippers and now lead the season series 2-1, the best thing about it is that both Paul George and Kawhi Leonard played that night.

Since becoming a Jazz, Clarkson is averaging 13.4 points, 1 ast and 1.8 reb in 5 games. Clarkson, is one of those cases that his stats may not show his full impact on the court. Clarkson looks comfortable playing with the Jazz and he should have the green light to shoot the ball. Clarkson experience with in heavy guard lineups also helps out offensively and defensively.

It’s funny because some the Jazz’s fans reaction towards the signing of Clarkson could have been a bit discouraging. Nonetheless, Clarkson and the Jazz are succeeding and honestly nothing bonds people like winning. I am hoping that the Jazz and Clarkson keep on winning.

What do you think about Clarkson’s fit with the Jazz?

And Are they Jazz done making moves or will they still be active in the trade deadline

Update 01/07/2020

Jazz win their 6th Straight game for their longest winning Streak of the season. Bogdanovic has 35 points, Ingles 22 Pts, Mitchell 19 Pts, and Clarkson 16 Pts playing 25 mins from the bench.

NSS Jazz @ Blazers – 1st of a 4 game series!! Mitchell vs Lillard

NSS Jazz @ Blazers – 1st of a 4 game series!! Mitchell vs Lillard

The Jazz made some moves to their roster and took a tough loss vs the Miami Heat.  The Blazers shouldn’t have loss to the Pelicans.  Both of this team, at the moment, make up the 6th and 8th spot in the West.  Yes, we should be talking about playoff seeding because the goals are is the playoffs.  The Jazz seem to realize that their summer moves are not working out so they making changes hoping to get better.  The Blazers are trying to redefine themselves to make something out of the season.

This is the 1st of a 4-game series and both of this team have a long way to go to start thinking further than the 1st round.  The Jazz at 18-12 should consider themselves lucky that some of their recent performances only count as 1 loss.  Whatever plan the Jazz had at the beginning of the season has gone out the window and they have officially started switching gears towards a new plan, that may not be fully known just yet.

And the best example is the trade for Jordan Clarkson to make the attempt to help out the Jazz’s bench.  In theory, if Clarkson plays, he should lead the bench mob, but the bigger Jazz concern may be Where is Conley and when is he coming back? And when he comes back, if he ever going to recover from his strugglers?

NSS Jazz: Lack of Assist, Bench Production & Trade Targets

The Blazers losing to the Pelicans makes me think that they are allergic to getting to 500 and I mean that.  It seems like every time they get to a couple games to even out the record, they just blow it themselves.  Lillard missed 10 3s, McCollum when 2-10 from 3 leaving it up to Carmelo Anthony to carry the scoring, he had 23 pts, 9-17 fg, 1-4 from 3.  The Blazers shot themselves out of this game, they should take note from the Jazz and start making moves.  And when I say start making moves, I am looking at Kent Bazemore.

This wont be an easy game for either team and also it may not be a pretty game for either.  The Blazers are at home, with their improve record of 8-7, while the Jazz away record is 7-9.  The big matchup is the Mitchell vs Lillard preview due to that either one could go off for 30 points on a given night.  If you ask me the Blazers have the scoring advantage of CJ McCollum, but the Jazz are balanced and have more options.

I can make a pick for this game, being that this are 2 of my favorite teams in the NBA to watch.  The Jazz are the team that I go see the most.  While the Blazers haver Carmelo Anthony who has been my favorite player growing up.  Lets just say that I’ll be watching and pretty happy even if the game ended in a tie.

Lastly, welcome to the Jazz Jordan Clarkson, it seems like most of the Jazz fans go some mix feelings about you, but I hope you do great.
