NSS: A (Car)Melo Milestone!!

Wednesday night January 29th the Portland Trail Blazers will be at home to play the Houston Rockets.  Carmelo Anthony was officially signed to the Blazers on November 19th, 2019 and for better or worse, it has been better.  The Blazers 20-27 record does not reflect all the downsides, injuries, bad signings and not great decisions this team is still fighting.  Melo has brought as much positivity as possible to the environment.

Melo is 4 points from reaching Kevin Garnett on the All the NBA All Time Scoring List.  Today, we are here to praised and thanks Melo for the career that he has had and what he has been able to accomplish since his return this year.

Melo is sitting at a total of 26,067 points, only 4 away from KG. Melo will be chasing John Havlicek, Paul Pierce and Tim Duncan for the rest of the season.  So far this season Melo is averaging 16.1 Pts, 6.5 Reb and 1.5 Ast for the Blazers

5 NBA teams that need to blow it up

The NBA is the best basketball league in the world. So, naturally, the high level of competition allows only the best built teams to truly find success and win the ultimate price.

With that being said, we often see many good, solid or even great teams that cant quite figure out what it takes to go over the hump. And for these 5 teams, it’s time to go on a new direction.

#5 The New York Knicks

There is literally so much wrong with this team, i don’t even know what they can blow up, as they are a huge dumpster fire {sorry knicks fans}. This year they are playing with what to me is an improvised roster since last year was supposed to be their offseason when they were expected to win the lottery get either Zion or Trade for AD, and pair them with Kyrie and KD and they ended up with Julius Randle, Bobby Portis and Taj Gibson. That’s not all that is wrong with this team. A much bigger situation is happening on the roster as they have too many options on every position and they don’t have just one main option.

There are bright spots on this team tho, like the aforementioned Randle, Mitchell Robinson, who was a steal of the 2018 draft, Marcus Morris who is having the best season of his career( 19.1 PPG and 5.5) and of course RJ Barrett who has shown a lot of desire to be a part of the teams future as its face. Apart from those 4 tho, the rest is just too much clutter. The solution, IMO, is to take this season as a trial period, see what sticks, and remove the rest out of the way. to draw a clearer path going forward.

#4 The Portland Trail Blazers

Now, I know that Portland is always contending and they, for the most part, are great, but do they really have the right team to win? We’ve seen them for years as a contender but they’ve always fallen just short of a Finals trip. And if Lillard isn’t sending OKC on a rebuild with long dagger buzzer beaters, and CJ isn’t doing big game sealing chase down blocks to seal the game, then they end up losing. Long story short, they depend to much on the Lillard and Mccollum backcourt to win playoff games. Another problem for Portland is that they aren’t exactly the best defensive team, they rank 22nd in opponent points per game. They also lost Meyers Leonard last year and he had a really good showing against Golden State,

Luckily for Portland we have found many solutions for their problems both short and long term with a very extreme and drastic one.

  • Short term: Since they are just one good option away they could use some veterans to try and make a push for the finals. Players that are solid on both ends like Marc Gasol or Serge Ibaka could be the final piece they need to win now.
  • Long term: It would be more ideal for them to just look for another young piece to compliment the team, Players such as Brandon Ingram, or Aaron Gordon Could be that Final piece for the long run.
  • Trade CJ Mccollum: If there is NO OTHER OPTION then you pull the trigger on moving CJ., but he is a big part of the team and trading him would take a lot to replace his energy and his two way abilities.

#3 The Minnesota TWolves

To me, this team is the pure embodiment of trial and error. To their credit they have been trying different things along the years, It’s just that nothing has worked. The question is, are they looking in the right place? There was a lot of promise around Minnesota a couple of years ago back when Wiggins And KAT brought home back to back rookie of the year awards and Zach Lavine was fresh off his first slam dunk contest win. They looked good, but a bad selection in the 2017 draft, and then that Jimmy Butler trade that we know didn’t work out as expected sent the Wolves way back.

What’s even worse is the kind of paused development of ”2014’s biggest hype train” Andrew Wiggins. I mean he hasn’t had a bad statistical season, but its not at all what people expected. Maybe the expectations were and still are too big, but when you pay a man an avg. salary of $29 million per year you naturally hope for more.

Now the solution isnt as simple as it might seem cause Wiggins carries a huge contract so they are gonna need to throw in something else along, however they could keep him and move Jeff Teague and Gorgui Dieng, Players that are aging and dont fit the current plans for the future. Players that could work could be Shai Gilgeous Alexander or Dennis Schroeder. There is the option of trading Towns and realistically this might be the best move as it allows a complete reset.

  • KAT To Hawks for, Cam Reddish, Kevin Huerter and John Collins + picks
  • KAT to Celtics for Jayson Tatum, Gordon Hayward and Robert Williams III
  • KAT to Brooklyn for Jarrett Allen, Caris LeVert, Spencer Dinwiddie and Joe Harris + Picks

#2. The Washington Wizards

For this team, fate and luck were never on their side. The injury bug plagued them really hard cause whenever John Wall or Bradley Beal was healthy, one was injured. Heck, at times , both of them got hurt at the same time. They did come really close to a conference finals appearance on multiple seasons but they got bounced in 3 straight finals appearances in the second round by Indiana, Atlanta and Boston, and in 2018 they lost to Detroit in the first round. Last season, many people thought they could’ve surprised a lot of teams but John Wall tore achilles and Dwight Howard played just 12 games with a very, lets say, very delicate and personal. And unless a miracle happens, they aren’t making it too far this year.

The answer is really simple, it is time to move on from both players. The reason for this is they have peaked and i dont think the Wizards can really get past the second round especially now that John Wall is returning from an achilles that had to be re-operated. The best option is to trade for a high lottery pick, I mean there is one Ball brother that might be declaring for next years draft that could be the piece for them going forward. If not the stock for Beal is very high. Beal to Celtics for Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart and Romeo Langford + pick could be a nice trade.

There is some good news and that is that the Wizards have sucked bad last 2 seasons, that means that they will probably get a top 5 pick in time for a full John Wall recovery, so hey, maybe being bad pays off?

#1 The Orlando Magic

I’m convinced that the Orlando Magic’s front office doesn’t know how to put a team together and the ones that drafted Dwight got really lucky. Where do you start with them? They Haven’t drafted a guard since 2015, I’M DEAD SERIOUS. The Magic have had 11 straight draft picks without picking anything less than a SF. They could’ve had a really good team but they’ve made a lot of terrible trades and signings that would take a whole other story.

Their main problem is how they have failed to develop a lot of young talent, players like Victor Oladipo, Tobias Harris, Elfrid Payton and Mario Hezonja. And if they dont trade Nikola Vucevic they might just end up ruining Aaron Gordon and Mo Bamba. Don’t get me wrong, Vucevic is really good and consistent, but he is really slow and needs the ball a lot to be effective on offense. they need to give Mo Bamba minutes and find a player that can throw lobs to Gordon and Bamba and implement a Lob City Type of game. Players they should get could be Lonzo Ball, Ricky Rubio and CP3,

So what do you think? Any other teams that might need to blow it up? Lets us know in the coments! Thanks For Reading. That was Nonsense!

NSS Blazers: Trading CJ McCollum

NSS Blazers: Trading CJ McCollum

CJ McCollum will officially be tradeable on January 29th, 2020, with the Blazers underperforming, the shooting could be on the move.  The NBA trade deadline is February 6th leaving the Blazers and any other team 7 days to make a deal.  Is almost like he’ll get a call from the girl in the ring movie “You’ll be traded in Seven Days”.

So here are some trading scenarios for CJ:

CJ & Mario Hezonja to the 76ers for Al Horford, Zhaire Smith

This trade would be a win-win (kind of) for both teams.  76ers fill up on their lack of shooting and a playmaker.  While the Blazers get a chance for a new formula around Dame, since the current one is not working.  Anfernee Simons would automatically be plug in to the starting rotation and would be given some room for mistakes.  Signing Horford, would give the Blazers a veteran that knows how to win, spaces the floor and will do the dirty work.

The reason for the “kind of” makes the 76es the winner.  CJ is younger than Horford and if he jells well with Embiid and Simmons gives the 76ers a big 3 that could get them over the hump.  In a shooting and scoring league, in theory the 76ers aren’t getting much value out of the aging Horford.  In my opinion, he is just not being used the right way in Philly nor seeing eye to eye with Embiid.  Watching both of them on the court, just looks awkward, hence why Horford is already in trade talks.

CJ to the Wolves for Karl Anthony Towns

Pairing KAT and Hassan Whiteside for Dame could be match what the Lakers did with Andrew Bynum and Paul Gasol for Kobe Bryant.  The end result was a championship for that team.  Carmelo Anthony will be made the Lamar Odom of the team.  KAT is already unhappy and the “CJ Haters Club” is growing at a rapid pace, it may be a win-win for both teams.

Now the Wolves sending away KAT may not look all that smart but in theory they’ll get something in return instead of letting him go for nothing in the summer.  Now a days is more and more common for teams that know they don’t have a shot at keeping a player to get as much in return as possible.  i.e. Thunder did it right.

This trade would messed up my NBA 2k20 MyPlayer career, since me and KAT are making the “Dominican Connection” in Sota.

CJ to the Magic for Aaron Gordon and Al-Farouq Aminu

The idea here is for Orlando feel that could have a better pairing with Markelle Fultz in the pairing.  Also the success that Aminu had with the Blazers didn’t fully translate with the Magic.  Lastly, the Magic would have fully given up on Aaron Gordon and just label him as a powerful dunker and not a hybrid all-around player.

If this trade seems like a stretch, is because it is but is one that makes sense for both teams.  Gordon is great for some stretches but he is not a proven 1st option for the Magic.  Gordon needs a bit more space, which can be created by Dame drawing the double team.  Gordon 3 point shot will still be in question, but with a little more space it could become respectable, just like Aminu’s shot in his time with the Blazers.

Don’t Trade CJ

Is simple don’t trade CJ and take this season as a recovery season.  Possibly stay out of the playoffs and play for mid-1st round draft.  In theory, the Blazers already won and will be recognized as the team made history signing Carmelo Anthony.   Melo has been playing great and filling up the seats for the Blazers and any other team (the Knicks) stadium when he visits.  The Blazers just need to do enough to stay “relevant” but not “playoff relevant”, which they are doing great at that by going on winning streak and then losing even more.

Final Thoughts of Nonsense

The Blazers may be on a slump but having a fire sale may not be the solution.  Dame and CJ work well together and truly the biggest issue for the Blazers is at the 4 position.  Even their bench is solid but they can only do so much.  While this may be a down for the Blazers, it happens, sometimes you do need to take a step back to be able to push off.

Lastly, the only appealing trade would be the one of KAT, now that will be worthwhile and will put the Blazers in win now and win later.

NSS Blazers: Win Some, Lose More SMH???????????

NSS Blazers: Win Some, Lose More SMH???????????

It almost looked like the Portland Trail Blazers had it figure it out, they were winning.  They improve their home record to a winning one, they were getting closer to an overall 500 record.  They moved up in the rankings and then they follow with that a 5 game losing streak.  At this point in time, do the Blazers know what’s going on with the Blazers??

My frustrations with the Blazers has almost been getting greater than the Jazz.  The Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum is blazing up in uncontainable flames.  The balance that used to be between them, is no longer there and on some nights, we all wondered if Carmelo Anthony should actually be the number 1 options.

I never minded when Hassan Whiteside was taking the blame for their losing early in the season.  Mostly because, in theory or by now, they should have figure it out and Whiteside was only serving as a temporary escape goat to hide all the deeper issues.  But no resolution has come and everybody is being force to acknowledge that Dame, CJ and the organization are not working out.

On top of everything else, the rumors of a trade between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Blazers seem to be gaining traction.  And honestly, I am all for it and they should make it happen ASAP.  Is not working and it makes it even worse when the Blazers go on a winning streak and then follow that by a longer losing streak.

In regards of the trade rumors listen to all calls for every player on the team.  Personally, keeping Dame will be ideal, mostly for his closing out OKC and the hope that he could do it again.  If the hype (and potential) behind Anfernee Simons is real, than he should have no problems taking over CJ’s minutes.  While at it find any deals for Kent Bazemore and Mario Hezonja, just saying while making trades and changes.

If anybody being keeping up with my NBA emotional state of mind; the happiness that was brought to me by the Jazz acquiring Jordan Clarkson and improving in all areas; it was all destroyed by the Blazers up and down weeks.

What do you guys think about the Blazers? Can they be fixed? Who Do You Keep?? CJ Or Dame??

NSS Jazz @ Blazers – 1st of a 4 game series!! Mitchell vs Lillard

NSS Jazz @ Blazers – 1st of a 4 game series!! Mitchell vs Lillard

The Jazz made some moves to their roster and took a tough loss vs the Miami Heat.  The Blazers shouldn’t have loss to the Pelicans.  Both of this team, at the moment, make up the 6th and 8th spot in the West.  Yes, we should be talking about playoff seeding because the goals are is the playoffs.  The Jazz seem to realize that their summer moves are not working out so they making changes hoping to get better.  The Blazers are trying to redefine themselves to make something out of the season.

This is the 1st of a 4-game series and both of this team have a long way to go to start thinking further than the 1st round.  The Jazz at 18-12 should consider themselves lucky that some of their recent performances only count as 1 loss.  Whatever plan the Jazz had at the beginning of the season has gone out the window and they have officially started switching gears towards a new plan, that may not be fully known just yet.

And the best example is the trade for Jordan Clarkson to make the attempt to help out the Jazz’s bench.  In theory, if Clarkson plays, he should lead the bench mob, but the bigger Jazz concern may be Where is Conley and when is he coming back? And when he comes back, if he ever going to recover from his strugglers?

NSS Jazz: Lack of Assist, Bench Production & Trade Targets

The Blazers losing to the Pelicans makes me think that they are allergic to getting to 500 and I mean that.  It seems like every time they get to a couple games to even out the record, they just blow it themselves.  Lillard missed 10 3s, McCollum when 2-10 from 3 leaving it up to Carmelo Anthony to carry the scoring, he had 23 pts, 9-17 fg, 1-4 from 3.  The Blazers shot themselves out of this game, they should take note from the Jazz and start making moves.  And when I say start making moves, I am looking at Kent Bazemore.

This wont be an easy game for either team and also it may not be a pretty game for either.  The Blazers are at home, with their improve record of 8-7, while the Jazz away record is 7-9.  The big matchup is the Mitchell vs Lillard preview due to that either one could go off for 30 points on a given night.  If you ask me the Blazers have the scoring advantage of CJ McCollum, but the Jazz are balanced and have more options.

I can make a pick for this game, being that this are 2 of my favorite teams in the NBA to watch.  The Jazz are the team that I go see the most.  While the Blazers haver Carmelo Anthony who has been my favorite player growing up.  Lets just say that I’ll be watching and pretty happy even if the game ended in a tie.

Lastly, welcome to the Jazz Jordan Clarkson, it seems like most of the Jazz fans go some mix feelings about you, but I hope you do great.
