5 NBA teams that need to blow it up

5 NBA TEAMS THAT NEED TO BLOW IT UP

The NBA is the best basketball league in the world. So, naturally, the high level of competition allows only the best built teams to truly find success and win the ultimate price.

With that being said, we often see many good, solid or even great teams that cant quite figure out what it takes to go over the hump. And for these 5 teams, it’s time to go on a new direction.

#5 The New York Knicks

There is literally so much wrong with this team, i don’t even know what they can blow up, as they are a huge dumpster fire {sorry knicks fans}. This year they are playing with what to me is an improvised roster since last year was supposed to be their offseason when they were expected to win the lottery get either Zion or Trade for AD, and pair them with Kyrie and KD and they ended up with Julius Randle, Bobby Portis and Taj Gibson. That’s not all that is wrong with this team. A much bigger situation is happening on the roster as they have too many options on every position and they don’t have just one main option.

There are bright spots on this team tho, like the aforementioned Randle, Mitchell Robinson, who was a steal of the 2018 draft, Marcus Morris who is having the best season of his career( 19.1 PPG and 5.5) and of course RJ Barrett who has shown a lot of desire to be a part of the teams future as its face. Apart from those 4 tho, the rest is just too much clutter. The solution, IMO, is to take this season as a trial period, see what sticks, and remove the rest out of the way. to draw a clearer path going forward.

#4 The Portland Trail Blazers

Now, I know that Portland is always contending and they, for the most part, are great, but do they really have the right team to win? We’ve seen them for years as a contender but they’ve always fallen just short of a Finals trip. And if Lillard isn’t sending OKC on a rebuild with long dagger buzzer beaters, and CJ isn’t doing big game sealing chase down blocks to seal the game, then they end up losing. Long story short, they depend to much on the Lillard and Mccollum backcourt to win playoff games. Another problem for Portland is that they aren’t exactly the best defensive team, they rank 22nd in opponent points per game. They also lost Meyers Leonard last year and he had a really good showing against Golden State,

Luckily for Portland we have found many solutions for their problems both short and long term with a very extreme and drastic one.

  • Short term: Since they are just one good option away they could use some veterans to try and make a push for the finals. Players that are solid on both ends like Marc Gasol or Serge Ibaka could be the final piece they need to win now.
  • Long term: It would be more ideal for them to just look for another young piece to compliment the team, Players such as Brandon Ingram, or Aaron Gordon Could be that Final piece for the long run.
  • Trade CJ Mccollum: If there is NO OTHER OPTION then you pull the trigger on moving CJ., but he is a big part of the team and trading him would take a lot to replace his energy and his two way abilities.

#3 The Minnesota TWolves

To me, this team is the pure embodiment of trial and error. To their credit they have been trying different things along the years, It’s just that nothing has worked. The question is, are they looking in the right place? There was a lot of promise around Minnesota a couple of years ago back when Wiggins And KAT brought home back to back rookie of the year awards and Zach Lavine was fresh off his first slam dunk contest win. They looked good, but a bad selection in the 2017 draft, and then that Jimmy Butler trade that we know didn’t work out as expected sent the Wolves way back.

What’s even worse is the kind of paused development of ”2014’s biggest hype train” Andrew Wiggins. I mean he hasn’t had a bad statistical season, but its not at all what people expected. Maybe the expectations were and still are too big, but when you pay a man an avg. salary of $29 million per year you naturally hope for more.

Now the solution isnt as simple as it might seem cause Wiggins carries a huge contract so they are gonna need to throw in something else along, however they could keep him and move Jeff Teague and Gorgui Dieng, Players that are aging and dont fit the current plans for the future. Players that could work could be Shai Gilgeous Alexander or Dennis Schroeder. There is the option of trading Towns and realistically this might be the best move as it allows a complete reset.

  • KAT To Hawks for, Cam Reddish, Kevin Huerter and John Collins + picks
  • KAT to Celtics for Jayson Tatum, Gordon Hayward and Robert Williams III
  • KAT to Brooklyn for Jarrett Allen, Caris LeVert, Spencer Dinwiddie and Joe Harris + Picks

#2. The Washington Wizards

For this team, fate and luck were never on their side. The injury bug plagued them really hard cause whenever John Wall or Bradley Beal was healthy, one was injured. Heck, at times , both of them got hurt at the same time. They did come really close to a conference finals appearance on multiple seasons but they got bounced in 3 straight finals appearances in the second round by Indiana, Atlanta and Boston, and in 2018 they lost to Detroit in the first round. Last season, many people thought they could’ve surprised a lot of teams but John Wall tore achilles and Dwight Howard played just 12 games with a very, lets say, very delicate and personal. And unless a miracle happens, they aren’t making it too far this year.

The answer is really simple, it is time to move on from both players. The reason for this is they have peaked and i dont think the Wizards can really get past the second round especially now that John Wall is returning from an achilles that had to be re-operated. The best option is to trade for a high lottery pick, I mean there is one Ball brother that might be declaring for next years draft that could be the piece for them going forward. If not the stock for Beal is very high. Beal to Celtics for Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart and Romeo Langford + pick could be a nice trade.

There is some good news and that is that the Wizards have sucked bad last 2 seasons, that means that they will probably get a top 5 pick in time for a full John Wall recovery, so hey, maybe being bad pays off?

#1 The Orlando Magic

I’m convinced that the Orlando Magic’s front office doesn’t know how to put a team together and the ones that drafted Dwight got really lucky. Where do you start with them? They Haven’t drafted a guard since 2015, I’M DEAD SERIOUS. The Magic have had 11 straight draft picks without picking anything less than a SF. They could’ve had a really good team but they’ve made a lot of terrible trades and signings that would take a whole other story.

Their main problem is how they have failed to develop a lot of young talent, players like Victor Oladipo, Tobias Harris, Elfrid Payton and Mario Hezonja. And if they dont trade Nikola Vucevic they might just end up ruining Aaron Gordon and Mo Bamba. Don’t get me wrong, Vucevic is really good and consistent, but he is really slow and needs the ball a lot to be effective on offense. they need to give Mo Bamba minutes and find a player that can throw lobs to Gordon and Bamba and implement a Lob City Type of game. Players they should get could be Lonzo Ball, Ricky Rubio and CP3,

So what do you think? Any other teams that might need to blow it up? Lets us know in the coments! Thanks For Reading. That was Nonsense!

NSS Blazers:3 win streak & Melo Player of the week!! Losing to the Clippers

  • Blazers 3 Game Winning Streak
  • Hassan Whiteside Breaks Block Record
  • Damian Lillard Is Back
  • Melo Wins Western Conference Player Of The Week

Blazers Had Momentum Facing the Clippers

Melo Had, Probably, one of the best Thanksgiving a NBA player could ask for!! Makes a comeback in the NBA and wins Western Conference Player of The Week helping his new team bounce back from a rocky start. And as much everybody should be enjoying all the celebrations, flashing lights and the good feeling, the Blazers still have a lot more to do. So enjoy what was the month of November because things about to get tougher and its just starting after the clippers.

The game before the facing the Blazers, the Clippers scored 150 points. The fact that they only scored 117 is a positive by itself, kind of, Blazers still loss by 20 points.  But what else was truly expected facing the Clippers.  When is not Kawhi Leonard going off is Paul George and as a team they still have one of the best bench mobs in the league, if not the best bench mob.  Montrezl Harrell scored 26 points and Patrick Patterson scored 19 points.  If anything for the Blazers, it was just a reality check of how far they still have to go.

This game when as expected and that’s okay.  This week for the Blazers is not an easy one and the faster its all over the better.  The Sacramento Kings are next and then it’s the Lakers on Friday night on ESPN, in which all eyes will be on the Melo Vs LBJ matchup.  The Blazers will benefit from being at home for the next 4 games and 3 of those t

Blazers sit at 8-13 and the next 4 home games are as follow:

Vs Kings (Series of 4 tied 1-1) – Bounce back game by Lillard 30+ Points

Vs Lakers (1st of 3 Games) – Melo Vs LBJ, will bring the crowd.  Hassan Whiteside will be the X-factor on how he handles AD and the Lakers’ center rotation.

Vs Thunder (Series of 4, Blazers lead 2-0) – if Blazers are able to beat both Kings and Thunder they’ll move ahead of them and closer to 500 and a playoff spot.

Vs Knicks (1st of 2 Games) – The Blazers hosting the Knicks not as exciting as it will be when they play the 2nd game on 1st of the day new year (January 1st, 2020) Carmelo Anthony will make his return to the Garden.  Does Melo deserve a tribute video??

The Blazers have a lot to work to do in a limited and very little room for error.  The “Melo Hype” will burn out and he’ll settle into a glorify shooter for the team.  The goal for the Blazers is the tread water till Lillard is 100% and starts to pick up where left off before injury last year.

What are your predictions for the 4 home games for the Blazers??

Personally hoping for 3-1.

Prime Dwight Howard vs prime Patrick Ewing

Prime Dwight Howard vs prime Patrick Ewing

Written by Kevin Bertalotto.

Note: In this unbiased article we’ll get to see Dwight Howard’s 5 best seasons vs Ewing’s.

Scoring Dwight Howard Patrick Ewing
08-12 Dwight

89-94 Ewing

  • 20.6ppg
  • 7.2/12.2 FGAs= 59%
  • 6.2/10.8 FTAs = 57.9%
  • 28.7 offensive win shares
  • 25.6ppg
  • 10.1/18.5 FGAs = 51.8%
  • 5.4/7.2 FTAs = 74.9%

Comments: Although there is no stats on Ewing’s shooting, we do know he was able to shoot jumpers, unlike Dwight, definitely had more offensive moves again, unlike Dwight. No doubt based off the stats and footages of the two it is quite obvious Patrick Ewing was the better scorer.

Rebounding Dwight Howard Patrick Ewing
08-12 Dwight

90-94 Ewing

  • 13.9 rpg
  • 3.8 offensive rebs
  • 10.1 defensive rebs
  • grabbed 31% of team’s total rebs
  • 11.3rpg
  • 2.6 offensive rebs
  • 8.7 defensive rebs
  • grabbed 21% of team’s total rebs

Thoughts: Although Dwight averaged more rebounds than Ewing, we must factor in several things like Pat played with Charles Oakley during those 5 yrs who avg 10.5 rebs, D12 never had a teammate during those 5 yrs that rebounds like Oakley, for multiple seasons Rashard Lewis was Dwight’s best rebounding teammate. The average pace from 08-12 was 92.04, from 90-94 was 96.02, we all know in the 00s teams shot more 3s than in the Ewing’s time making it harder for centers like Dwight to get rebounds. This category is so close when you factor in everything, so let’s call it a tie.

Defense Dwight Howard Patrick Ewing
08-12 Dwight

90-94 Ewing

  • 2.5 blocks
  • 1.1 steals
  • 33.3 defensive win shares
  • 96 DRTG
  • 3.0 blocks
  • 1 steal
  • 33.8 defensive win shares
  • 98 DRTG

Comments: In Dwight’s defense, Patrick Ewing did benefit from hand checking, allowed to be a bit more physical, but Pat definitely made more players shook than D12 who many consider “soft”. Although Ewing was more tough on defense, I do think Dwight was the better rim protector if you were to have Ewing play by the rules Howard played with. Sure Pat played against more elite centers than Dwight did in those 5 yrs, but we can’t deny D12 was the slightly better defender, come on og the 5 years not once was Ewing top 3 in DPOY, meanwhile Howard won it 3x in a row!

Playoffs Dwight Howard Patrick Ewing
08-11 Dwight (53 games)

90-94 Ewing (65 games)

  • 20.7ppg
  • 7/11.6 FGAs = 60%
  • 14.3rpg
  • 1.5 asts
  • 2.9blks
  • 4.7 defensive win shares
  • 24.3 PER
  • 98 DRTG
  • 23.8ppg
  • 9.5/20.1 FGAs = 47%
  • 11.2rpg
  • 2.5 asts
  • 2.5 blks
  • 5 defensive win shares
  • 21 PER
  • 101 DRTG

Comments: Almost the same in the regular season, Ewing was the better offensive player but Dwight had a slight edge on D, as far as rebounding Dwight does lead that along with efficiency.

Advanced stats Dwight Howard
08-12 Dwight

90-94 Ewing

Player Efficiency Rating- 24.5

Value Over Replacement- 21.3

  • Player Efficiency Rating- 23.2
  • Value Over Replacement- 22.7

In those 5 years:

Dwight: 5x All Star, won DPOY for 3 consecutive years, made all defensive team 1st and 2nd all 5 yrs, all NBA 1st Team 5x, led the NBA in rebounds 4x, led the league in blocks 2x,  was top 3 in MVP voting, led Orlando to the Finals (09)

Ewing: 5x All star, made all NBA 1st Team 1x, all NBA 2nd team 3x, led New York to the Finals (94).

Conclusion

Yes both are great players and did what they were asked to do very well, having said when asked who in their prime was the better individual, I would take Ewing, but not in a heartbeat.

NBA Nonsense Expectations!! The East

NBA Nonsense Expectations!! The East

The NBA All Star break is just about over and the real race for the playoff will begin (for some teams).  With only about 25 games left for most teams the debate “To Tank or Not to Tank” begins.  So here are some nonsense predictions and expectations for each of the NBA Teams for the final half of the season.

Let’s Begin with the East:

  1. Toronto Raptors v Detroit PistonsToronto 41-16 (Currently 1) – Toronto will continue dominate their opponents. Derozan will continue his strong season averaging 23.7 points per game. The bench with surge with more time given to VanVleet and Poetl. For a team that still has 25 games left in the season and only 10 wins away to match their total from last year. Coach of the year nominee could lead his team to a 60 wins season. Looking at the scheduled they play Orlando and Detroit 3 times each. Ending record 56-26.
  2. LeBron-James-George-Hill-Rodney-Hood-Jordan-Clarkson-Larry-Nance-JrCleveland Cavaliers 34-22 (Currently 3) – LeBron James and the new looking Cavaliers will reach the number 2 seed. Even being behind the Celtics 6 games, they still have 26 games left. If anything we have learn about any team that LeBron plays for is that they rally in the 2nd half of the season.  Also keep in mind that this team already looks scary and Kevin Love is still out of the line up. Ending record 54-28.
  3. hi-res-96bdc9f15fa5024c64b0e954c528736c_crop_northBoston Celtics 40-19 (Currently 2) – Brad Stevens is a great coach. Kyrie Irving, Al Horford, Jaylen Brown and Tatum have all had great seasons. The rise of Terry Rozier has also proven to be very valuable. Unfortunately for the Celtics they haven’t been winning the 50-50 games and teams are preparing more and more for them. Also a big factor are injuries Kyrie and Horford have both missed games this year, therefore rest will play a big factor for the Celtics for the rest of the season. Ending record 53-59.
  4. vongIndiana Pacers 33-25 (Currently 5) – Victor Oladipo is averaging 24.4 points per game, which is the highest of his career. If he can keeps on torching teams on the offensive the Pacers will be in a great playoff position.  At the beginning of the season it would have impossible to predict that the Pacers would be doing this good.  The only question left is what else can this Cinderella/ redemption team can do. Ending record 49-33.
  5. hi-res-de20fea29527a7521d50268316bac474_crop_northWashington Wizards 33-24 (Currently 4) – Bradley Beal have been great, since John Wall went down, proving that he can be the leader to this Wizards team. The question lies on how Wall will adjust to the new team play and if he is willing to (maybe) take a backseat to Beal. Expect locker room drama and lack of leadership to cost this team a couple games. Who is or who should be the leader of this Wizards team? Wall or Beal??Ending record 48-34.
  6. simmons_ncxfkvnqm0b91pmi8tei5zlx7Philadelphia 76ers 30-25 (Currently 7) – Embiid and Simmons are going to be playing with fire in their eyes. Do you #TrustTheProcess?? Going into the All Star break with a 5 game winning streak and starting out the final stretch with a matchup against the Bulls. The 76ers are done tanking and now making an entrance back in to the playoffs. Ending Record 46-36.
  7. DwadeMiami Heat 30-28 (Currently 8) – D-Wade will lead his team to the promise land (the playoffs, not championships) before he signs another deal for a paycheck or retires.   The Heat are nowhere close to any kind of championship form that they have been in the past.  But that doesn’t mean that Pat is going to take the “tanking route.  Plus why tank when you can make the playoffs and build history (by history, I mean endless profit) with every minute that Dwayne Wade Plays.  Ending record 44-38.
  8. GFMilwaukee Bucks 32-25 (Currently 6) – The Bucks will miss Jason Kidd playoff experience. The Greek Freak will continue to make highlights for the rest of the season. Unfortunately he doesn’t have a lot of help and it will take time to re-integrate Jabari Parker in to the team full rotation.   Khris Middleton is a diamond in disguise that the Bucks aren’t fully taking advantage off.  If they fully commit to Parker (which they shouldn’t do) they will see Middleton succeed somewhere else. Ending record 43-39.

Not Tanking but Not Making Strides Forward (in no particular order)

  9. 27580517_418419595237409_356549153913831424_n (002)Detroit Pistons – Acquiring Blake Griffin was treated as when Monty Python found the Holy Grail. Both seem great at the time and will prove worthless overtime. Detroit will find more future success than it would have keeping Harris and Bradley (so that’s a step forward). Sitting 2 Sports out of the playoffs, the Pistons will find their success with Blake Griffin mostly putting people in the stands so they can see amazing dunks (and ignored the team missing the playoffs).  SVG is not going to have an easy summer.  His job is on the line.  The Pistons will have a better year next year, which is something am sure Pistons fans have been telling each other for a while now.
  10. kembaCharlotte Hornets – have more than likely ruined whatever future they had with Kemba Walker. Are already shopping for back office roles. Their biggest attribute is Dwight Howard great bounce back season. Developing young players should be the number 1 priority. With 25 games the Hornets don’t have many options other than to just keep on their average play.  MKG, Malik Monk and so many more fail experiments for the Hornets.  The RESET BUTTON needs to be push.  Most importantly for Kemba give him a chance to be great somewhere else (With the Knicks).
  11. 2015_01_06_3a_KnicksThumb_c0e16New York Knicks – Going in to the 2nd half losing 8 straight. First game is against fellow tanking team the Orlando Magic, so that’s going to be a battle and only the best loser will win. Porzinguis is out (again). Michael Beasley is not the answer. Tim Hardaway Jr was, literally, jumped over by the Greak Freak (and not it wasn’t at the dunk competition). Knicks fan are jumping ship. Why did they sign Mudiay?
  12. chicago_bulls2Chicago Bulls – This team is actually trending up. They knew what was in store for them after trading away Jimmy Butler and getting back an injured Zach Lavine. But the future is brighter than it looks and this season may have been “Meh” for the most part. The Bulls are taking to the fast lane to rebuilding and for the most part with Lauri, Dunn and Lavine the future is couldn’t be any brighter. The Bulls they are not tanking, they are just losing games. That happens.

Pretending to Tank, Trying Not To Tank, and obviously (sucking at) tanking

  13. SDBrooklyn Nets – Finally have a semi healthy roster. Russell is back. Okafor is finally playing. Spencer Dinwiddie is bringing back the old school mustache and afro. The Nets are pretending to tank. They team they have is a lot better than advertised (when healthy). Somewhere in the Brooklyn Nets main building cheers can be heard because they may suck, but not sucking as much as the Knicks are.
  14. vpn99tgm2kr6kmlmyffgOrlando Magic – The Magic are really trying not to tank. They just don’t have any players that affect the winning column. I think they have realized this and started getting rid of some projects (Elfrid Payton). The Magic roster shows so much potential we all want to see this team win. They should really stop trying not to tank and just start tanking. Go lobby for Trae Young.
  15. 21Atlanta Hawks – there is not a team that sucks so badly at tanking than the Hawks. They need to accept their tanking role. Every night play Collins for 30+ minutes and just throw lobs at him all day long. Keep focusing on bringing in rappers for halftime events, Hot Sauce playing 1-1 with fans and everything else that you’re doing. Just accept it and keep walking like there is nothing happening. The Atlanta Hawks are going to be at the bottom of the East for a very long time. So give the people more Collins and have a better bio for Andrew White III.  Maybe is a genius idea to have a great half time show.

The Shumpert Track

The Shumpert Track:

by Francis S Estepan,
Published February 16th, 2018

With the 2011 1st round pick, the New York Knicks Draft Iman Shumpert. Fast forward Dec. 25th scores his first buckets in the NBA, finishes the game Vs Boston with 11 Points on 3-13 shooting.  The 6’5 shooting guard was known to be value on the defensive of the lineup.  He could be compare to the likes of Tony Allen.  With career highs 27 Points, 16 rebounds, 9 assist (on different occasions) on the offensive side he really found his strength and pride defensively.  I guess it can be said that he is above average defensively and below average offensively in comparison to other shooting guards in the NBA.

Back in 2015, he saw himself as “the first NBA player to have a legitimate music career”. Most recently tracks here and there and one album called “Full Court Press, Vol 1” can be found but it doesn’t seem that much have stuck or made it to the mainstream.  Music and basketball usually go hand in hand with many NBA players and rappers wanting to crossover to the different lifestyle.

Recently traded to the Sacramento Kings in a three team deal that mostly benefitted the Cleveland Cavaliers. Sacramento currently stands with a record of 18-38 are far from championship contention.  The Kings haven’t made the playoffs since the 05-06 season.  Fortunately, Vlade Divac risky actions off trading who could have been a team center piece could be paying off with proper developments of their most recent rookie acquisitions.

Shumpert will be going from a competing team to rebuilding (or tanking) team. An argument can be made that he was the biggest loser in this transaction especially after reports that teams (clippers) did not want his services.  Both Joe Johnson and Derrick Rose will go through waiver procedures and more than likely find a team before the playoffs starts.  Crowder 3 and D capabilities will fit right in Utah.  The newly acquire Cavaliers’ seem to be adjusting really well playing alongside LeBron James.  So the questions ¿What value does Shumpert have, if any?

iman-shumpert-crop-top-nyfw

Coming into this 3rd team in his career, Shumpert could be on his way to becoming a journeyman in the NBA getting signed by teams needing to fill small roles and for salary caps purposes.  Defensive minded players losing their valued in the NBA could be associated with the quicker and amount of shots that teams are taking.  Having a defensive stopper is almost irrelevant when in transition or when guys like Harden and Curry are popping off 40 footers.  Entering this year Memphis officially ended the Grit and Grind era trading away Randolph and Tony Allen.  Players like Shumpert are losing value.

Shumpert NBA career does not seem to have taken a turn for the better. Sacramento can be seen a great place for veterans like Randolph and Carter who number 1 job is to help the younger guys develop.  Looking at Shumpert style of play, even at 27, he may have already peak or his room for improvement would not be worth developing.  It is still yet to be determined how he would break into the lineup where he is 1 of 5 shooting guards.

What’s the next track for Iman Shumpert? After making a recovery from his latest injury, we are hoping that he improves his jumper and is still able bring toughness defensively. Shumpert should make his debut as King after the All Star Break!!  Would hate to see people remember Shumpert for his afro hair and being the other shirtless guy next to Kyrie and Henny JR.
