NSS Jazz @ Blazers – 1st of a 4 game series!! Mitchell vs Lillard

NSS Jazz @ Blazers – 1st of a 4 game series!! Mitchell vs Lillard

The Jazz made some moves to their roster and took a tough loss vs the Miami Heat.  The Blazers shouldn’t have loss to the Pelicans.  Both of this team, at the moment, make up the 6th and 8th spot in the West.  Yes, we should be talking about playoff seeding because the goals are is the playoffs.  The Jazz seem to realize that their summer moves are not working out so they making changes hoping to get better.  The Blazers are trying to redefine themselves to make something out of the season.

This is the 1st of a 4-game series and both of this team have a long way to go to start thinking further than the 1st round.  The Jazz at 18-12 should consider themselves lucky that some of their recent performances only count as 1 loss.  Whatever plan the Jazz had at the beginning of the season has gone out the window and they have officially started switching gears towards a new plan, that may not be fully known just yet.

And the best example is the trade for Jordan Clarkson to make the attempt to help out the Jazz’s bench.  In theory, if Clarkson plays, he should lead the bench mob, but the bigger Jazz concern may be Where is Conley and when is he coming back? And when he comes back, if he ever going to recover from his strugglers?

NSS Jazz: Lack of Assist, Bench Production & Trade Targets

The Blazers losing to the Pelicans makes me think that they are allergic to getting to 500 and I mean that.  It seems like every time they get to a couple games to even out the record, they just blow it themselves.  Lillard missed 10 3s, McCollum when 2-10 from 3 leaving it up to Carmelo Anthony to carry the scoring, he had 23 pts, 9-17 fg, 1-4 from 3.  The Blazers shot themselves out of this game, they should take note from the Jazz and start making moves.  And when I say start making moves, I am looking at Kent Bazemore.

This wont be an easy game for either team and also it may not be a pretty game for either.  The Blazers are at home, with their improve record of 8-7, while the Jazz away record is 7-9.  The big matchup is the Mitchell vs Lillard preview due to that either one could go off for 30 points on a given night.  If you ask me the Blazers have the scoring advantage of CJ McCollum, but the Jazz are balanced and have more options.

I can make a pick for this game, being that this are 2 of my favorite teams in the NBA to watch.  The Jazz are the team that I go see the most.  While the Blazers haver Carmelo Anthony who has been my favorite player growing up.  Lets just say that I’ll be watching and pretty happy even if the game ended in a tie.

Lastly, welcome to the Jazz Jordan Clarkson, it seems like most of the Jazz fans go some mix feelings about you, but I hope you do great.

NSS NBA Daily: Lakers @ Jazz – frustration, Lakers’ season plan, game preview, Updates & Predictions

**The Lakers’ are my wife’s team that bring her joy (huge Kobe fan) and the Jazz are the team that is causing me extreme frustration**

So let’s get started!!

Want to know the fastest way to ruin my day, ask me how the Jazz are doing? And that would set me off on a rant that will continue long after you are done with the conversation and long gone to your daily doings.  So imagine my struggled as I am writing this right now.  Just saying, how some of the Jazz’ fans are starting to feel about the team plot holes, I BEEN THERE THE WHOLE TIME AND NOBODY WANT IT TO LISTEN WHEN I WAS TRYING TO TELL THEM!!! THE PLOT HOLES HAVE BEEN THERE THE WHOLE TIME!!

So let’s talk some basketball!!

The Jazz have a 12-9 record, good enough for the 6th spot in the West and trending down thanks to a 2 game losing.  Also doesn’t help that they 1-5 in the last 5 games.  The Jazz need to start making changes not just to the way that they play but also be looking at improving the roster.  But for now, let’s just talk about the 21 assist that they average per game and the turnovers at 15.5 per game, which should be addressed right away starting in the matchup vs the Lakers.

Mike Conley, as he should as the most experienced playmaker of the team, is the assist leader for the Jazz averaging 4.6.  Unfortunately, 4.6 is not enough, Conley hasn’t led in assist the last 3 games and still dealing with his hamstring injury.  So the question is who will step up? Because nobody has been doing it.

Looking at the Jazz, Donovan Mitchell leads the offense and Rudy Gobert leads the defense.  Bojan Bogdanovic has had a couple good games and Royce O’Neale all-around game is picking up where it left of last year.  Facing the Lakers at home does bring confidence due to the 8-1 Home record, but finding any other positive for the Jazz won’t be easy.

The Lakers have been rolling with an 18-3 record sitting at the top of West.  And yea you can argue that they haven’t beaten anybody significant, because truly haven’t.  Before beating the Nuggets, they most meaningful win has been against the Mavericks, who they loss to when facing them the 2nd time.  The Lakers whether (more like “are) benefitting from their scheduled and they are also winning the games that they should.

The game plan for LeBron, AD and the Lakers is to make to the playoffs and then turn up the gear and start prepping and planning for teams like the Clippers and Bucks.  82 games in the season and only 8 playoff spot, nobody can be thinking championship without getting to the playoffs, Lakers know this.  The Lakers real season starts in the playoffs.

Lakers @ Jazz Preview, Updates & Predictions:

Preview

  • 4 Game series, Lakers 1-0.
  • Lakers are on a 3 game road trip that started with Denver and are playing back to back against the Jazz
  • Jazz will be home for the next 3 games, starting with Lakers

Game Updates

  • Mike Conley has been ruled out for the game
  • Anthony Davis may play, but still unclear.

Predictions / Nonsense Watch

  • With AD, still unclear status, LeBron may be prepping to for a bigger offensive role and may look to bully ball the Jazz
  • Jazz PG rotation will be tested, especially Emmanuel Mudiay, who needs to score more than 2 points if he wants to keep from fully falling out the rotation.
  • Gobert (13.7 Reb) has to deal with JaVale McGee (6.4 Reb) and Dwight Howard (6.9 Reb) on the glass.
  • Jazz may need more than the scoring breakout from Donovan Mitchell to get his win.

Pick: Lakers Win.  I make this pick with great pain.

NSS Jazz Daily – Jazz (12-8) @ 76ers (14-6) – The Struggling Jazz vs 76ers’ 9-0 Home Record

NSS Jazz Daily – Jazz (12-8) @ 76ers (14-6) – The Struggling Jazz vs 76ers’ 9-0 Home Record

The Jazz may not be coming into this game playing great basketball and being 5-5 in their last 10, but at least they beat the 76ers in their 1st matchup so that’s a plus. As much as I enjoy watching the Jazz, they have not been giving any reason to show that they are the threat they were projected to be this year. Donovan Mitchell is progressing into stardom and the Jazz seem to have gave him the keys to the city, they may have just turned on the full power on.

The Jazz have lost their last 3 matchups against team with a 500 record or better. Raptors, Pacers and Bucks in case anybody was wondering. The Jazz need to come up big and beat the 76ers who are looking to win their 10th straight. The argument that the Jazz are a 2nd half team needs to stop and the search for missing pieces needs to begin right away.

Only 4 team have a perfect home record and the 76ers are one of them, with 9-0. While that is glamorous record and stat to have the 76ers are 7-3 in their last 10 games. That loss was to the Raptors that kept Embiid on lock down mode. Since then, Embiid has been attempting to make that game as a fluke and easy forgettable (it’s not) with stat lines 33 Pts & 16 Reb, 27 Pts & 17 Reb, and 32 Pts & 11 Reb.

Concerns for the Jazz:

  • Offense Rank 24rd – 106.8 Ppg
  • Bench Scoring is a problem
  • Assist 27th – 20.9 Apg

Keys To Win:

  • Mitchell & Conley Get Others Involved
  • Gobert Avoid Foul Troubles On Embiid Flops
  • Research The market for Dante Exum and trade him

Pick: Really Want The Jazz for the win… But 76ers may have the edge

NBA “What If’s & Nonsense

NBA “What If’s & Nonsense

By Francis S Estepan

Today is the last day of the NBA Season.  Without a doubt the only important game tonight will be Minnesota Timberwolves Vs Denver Nuggets fighting for a spot in the playoffs.  Once that game finishes the playoff matchups will be determined and nonsense predictions will be made.  Till then here are some “What if” and some extra Nonsense:

  • LeBron James did not want to face the Miami Heat in the playoffs – “You can’t script/fix NBA Games” but you can play like trash and get blown out by a Miami team led by a collection of role players and D-Wade. As great as D-Wade is, he has more value to Miami in terms of legacy than anything else.
  • Donovan Mitchell is a true rookie. If Ben Simmons wins Rookie of The Year, the NBA will more than likely think about changing out the whole “Rookie Rule”.  Thinking about it, a guy sits out a whole a year but still gets access to everything else team wise?
  • New Celtics Same Old Kyrie. I hate injuries as much as any other player, fan or just spectator but is just hard not to notice that Kyrie, as valuable and talented as he is, hasn’t played 82 games in his career.
  • I wonder how mad the Memphis Grizzlies GMs and back office became once the Phoenix Suns accomplished their mission of getting the worse record in the NBA.
  • The Warriors can’t win without Curry. KD has been great but according to the numbers without Curry this team could struggle to come out the 1st  If the Warriors don’t make out the 1st round, do they get rid of KD? Or just kickback and wait for their real leader? The REAL question is if the Warriors had to choose between Curry and KD who do they keep?
  • Who are the real Dark Horses in each conference?
    • West:
      • OKC – But not really. How did Billy Donovan performed so bad with this roster or should we blame it on Westbrook hero ball
      • Spurs – No Kawhi, no problem. Other not winning 50 games, it can be said it was successful season.  Remember the beat Houston last year
      • Jazz – Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell only have one job each. Gobert – Defense.  Mitchell – Offense.
    • East
      • Heat – If every game came down to a last second shot and D-Wade was shooting the ball, that was the game plan.
      • Philly – Let’s be honest by now, we all “Trust the Process”, but championships? Wait? Hold Up? Would that complete the process?
      • Cavaliers – Lebron James is the fiery Dark Horse in the East.
    • When did we all decided to ignore the Blazers & Pelicans as possible contenders??
    • What if somebody other than the Warriors, Rockets, Raptors or Cleveland wins the CHAMPIOSHIP? Would that be a good twist??
